Application Process

On-site exchange application process – Foreign students to UM

  • 1. The student applies to the exchange program through its home university.
  • 2. International Relations UM receives and revises the student’s documents and sends a notification about his/her application.
  • 3. International Relations UM sends the corresponding School the student’s background information to evaluate his/her course load.
  • 4. International Relations UM informs the student if his/her courses have been accepted or rejected and indicates who will be his/her Tutor Professor throughout his/her exchange.
  • 5. International Relations UM sends through email the Invitation Letter to the exchange to the student so that he/she applies to the visa.
  • 6. The student must ratify his/her course load with his/her Tutor Professor.
  • 7. At the end of the semester, International Relations UM will send the grade certificate through email to the student.
  • 8. Later, the student must answer the online survey about his/her exchange experience.

Online exchange application process - Foreign students to UM

APPLICATION DOCUMENTS:

  1. Cover letter from the International Education Office at the home university of the student
  2. Application form from Universidad Mayor
  3. Transcript record in English or Spanish
  4. Passport photocopy
  5. Financial solvency letters
  6. Spanish knowledge certificate equivalents to a B2 Level (620 to 675 pedagogical hours) in accordance with the CEFR
  7. Copy of medical insurance in English or Spanish
  8. Architecture Program: students must present their portfolio
  9. Exchange fee: Each student must pay to Universidad Mayor the equivalent in Chilean pesos of US$60, once he/she has been accepted to participate in the student mobility program. This amount is for the exchange management and the management of International Relations. If the student does not participate of the exchange, such amount will not be reimbursed.

BEFORE TRAVELLING

  • ● Medical insurance/ flight ticket: it is recommended to buy these documents after receiving the exchange acceptance letter from Universidad Mayor. Medical insurance must cover all kinds of events including the pandemic.
  • It is recommended to revise the web page of the Ministery of Foreign Relations Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores to have updated information on border openings and Coronavirus vaccination validation in Chile. The On-site modality may suffer modifications, depending on the sanitary restrictions.

  8. Copy of medical insurance in English or Spanish.

Spanish Course

The Intensive Spanish Course as a Second Language Program consists of a cultural and linguistic immersion set within the Chilean context. By way of systematic and practical classes, students will acquire the tools to become proficient in both written and spoken Spanish. There are three levels: Beginners, Intermediate, and Superior/ 100 hours of class over 4 weeks (5 hours a day).
